Re: a prediction result from UCLA

Hi John. A couple of questions if I may. The following statement kind of bothers me.

“In June of 2003, this team predicted an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 or higher would strike within nine months in a 310-mile region of Central California whose southern part includes San Simeon, where a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck on Dec. 22.”

San Simeon is in the southern part of the predicted area. This indicates to me they are looking at a place further north. Do you by any chance know that location? In as much as the 9 month window is still open would this mean that there is still a chance for the quake to occur at the location they might have been thinking of?

Why a 9 month period and what determines when this 9 month waiting period starts?

What faults were looked at and where were the quakes prior to the San Simeon quake located?

A 310 mile region would cover an area from south of San Simeon to a point in the North Bay Area. Not sure if this region would included the Great Valley, but I’m fairly sure it does cover just about everything west of it. Take Care…Don in creepy town
