I'm glad you made a call. For the first 4 hours after the quake I was going crazy listening to both KCAL and KABC report, "initially scientists belived it was on the San Andreas fault, they are still trying to determine if this was on the San Andreas or not.." Determine!? Any idiot could look up the state map minutes after the quake and see the quake WAS NOT on the San Andreas or even close. Obviously I also knew that the geo professionals made that accesment before the news stations even went on the air to report the story. Yet, the reporters, when choosing their words, can make it sound so much more serious and dramatic than it has to be. Today was a good learning lesson about how the news can be and it makes me wonder what other info I maybe a tad misinformed on because I'm not an expert in the field.
