CMEs Electrons and Protons

Hi All. Thought I would jump in here with the little knowledge I have about CMEs.

Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are huge ejections of mass from the Sun; they are balloon- shaped bursts of solar wind rising above the solar corona, expanding as they climb; solar plasma is heated to tens of millions of degrees, and electrons, protons, and heavy nuclei are accelerated to near the speed of light

An electron is a negatively charged particle, one of the three major building blocks for atoms.

A proton is a positively charged particle, one of the three major building blocks for atoms; the number of protons found in an atom’s nucleus determines what element is present.

Although were not talking about atoms you can see that electrons are always negative and protons are always positive. Electrons, protons and neutrons are organized into composite particles called atoms. These complex structures have a small central region known as the nucleus, in which the protons and neutrons reside. The electrons are in orbits around this. The nucleus is held together by the strong nuclear force, whilst the electrons are bound to it by the weaker force of electromagnetism. This occurs because two of the elementary particles are electrically charged. The protons carry a positive electrical charge whilst the slightly heavier neutrons, as the name implies, are electrically neutral. The far lighter electrons are negatively charged and they orbit the positively charged nucleus.

For the most part it does appear that CMEs have more of an affect on areas that are volcanic in nature. However it still depends on where the CME impacts the earth. Take Care…Don in creepy town
