Cathryn,

Why not? Surely, to have eventually produced progeny with eyes that blue, they must have come over on the Mayflower.

The subject is clearly more newsworthy and more historically important in the grand scheme of things, than the lowly reporter unless you are working for the "Washington Post" and talking to pseudonymous, highly placed White House insiders about scandals of gargantuan proportions.

Pulitzer or no, this is the only case I can think of in which the reporter(s) was (were) almost as newsworthy as the subject. In no case can I think of an instance (short of Janet Taylor's plagiarism, for example) when the reporter outshone the subject of the article.

It is transparently clear we writers must puff ourselves up with delusions of grandeur re: our byline else we wake one morning and say, "What the f*ck? I'm working my a** off for a pittance for a glory that will never be recognized or appreciated by anyone but my mother.

In the smog belt? I'm so sorry.

It was fantastic! Well worth the drive. Thanks for asking.

The book will be sent shortly. Happy reading, even though in its 349 pages, not one graph or glyph can be found, save the reversed R in "Toys R Us."
