There are two different programs here. The first involves evaluating earthquake precursor data and circulating warnings or advisories which do things such as recommend that other earthquake forecasters check their own data to see if there are any signs that an earthquake could be about to occur.

The second program which I am discussing with these latest notices involves an attempt to provide other researchers around the world with information regarding earthquake triggering processes. I believe that it should enable them to better identify some of the time windows where there is a higher probability that an earthquake will be triggered. And that should make it easier for them to interpret their own precursor data.

If my evaluation of this second project is correct, it could represent a dramatic jump forward in time for earthquake science.
