Question For Chris And John |
Hi Chris and John. Have a question for you two. In Sept. 82 there was a M>2.8 quake at 37.1870N/121.2430W. It appears to be associated with the Ortigalita fault. This fault is on the western side of the San Joaquin Valley, just a little north of the San Luis Reservoir. Ortigalita Fault 1.0 36.76 -120.91 37.28 -121.28 - 66,90,11 M= 6.9 - 8.60E-04 2.66 This quake was 60Km (37.5 miles) deep. Would this be an indication that the fault is at least 60Km deep in that area? Both the NCEDC and ANSS catalogs list this quake. The NEIC catalog doesn’t list this quake, but they didn’t list many of the other quakes that have occurred in that area.
