This is just for the record.

I was out doing some astrophotography 01/05/03. At about 10:57pm there was a large blue dome-like flash SSW of Saugus (Los Angeles County). About 7 minutes after the blue flash, the wind started kicking up severely.

I don't think that the flash was a blown transformer. I had my scanner on and there was nothing broadcast to indicate it. (Out here, you sneeze and it gets broadcast.)

Anyway, if there's a quake to follow, at least this might help to corroborate any link re: ball lightening as a pre-cursor.
