Are you sure about that 300 years Chris? I know the southern SAF is on the 300 year scale but I think the middle section is mor along the lines of 140 years.

Maybe I need to look for some of Kerry's recent publications...I say a good presentation he did about 18 months ago or more. He was pushing the idea we can live with quakes if we just retrofit our buildings and not build on top of faults. His idea was if 1% of buildings per year get retrofitted, then in 100 years all would be earthquake safe. I think I have a copy of his powerpoint presentation around here somewhere....
