Rolling Thunder

Hi All,

I woke up at 4AM to the sound of rolling thunder. I think it occurred 10 tens, but just far enough away that I missed the lightning display. Then the wind picked up and now its howling. My poor puddy tats don't like the sound of thunder so they let me know something wasn't right. So much for a good nights sleep.

I've been watching the emergence of a slide on my normal route to work and though the slide is moving slowly so far, I expect the small hillside is going to go today. It is along a narrow two lane, heavily used road and no doubt will cover a good part of it when it lets go. Yesterday morning I got a good look at it. The hillside is covered with grass and I could see a fissure from bottom to top, around the top end and smaller fissures going through the center. I called the Sheriff's office last night alerting them to the danger and they said the highway dept most likely will not do anything until it comes down. I just hope I'm not the unfortunately one to be there when it occurs. I'm not so sure that slides don't occur when I'm in the area, so this is a new test. But I am concerned about anyone who is there when it occurs. Its only a matter of hours now until this storm starts dropping the extra moisture it needs to bring it down. If anyone in the North Bay is reading this message, the slide is within 1/4 mile of the Sonoma Dump on Stage Gulch Road on the westbound side. Heads Up folks.

Petra
