Newsgroup discussions regarding gravity induced earthquake triggering

I am almost afraid to even mention this because there have been so many disappointments in the past. But, something that I have stated repeatedly regarding the science of forecasting earthquakes is that perhaps the first and most important step is for people interested in the subject matter to “Get Organized!!!”

That 131.html Web page represents an attempt to organize certain types of earthquake related data so that they can be examined and then discussed in a logical manner by scientists and other interested parties. And for the moment at least, it looks like this approach might be starting to work.

In response to that Newsgroup notice, several people who are knowledgeable in the area of geophysics are discussing this subject matter. You can follow the conversations in the sci.geo.earthquakes Newsgroup. An even better one might be alt.disasters.misc because this is about the only topic being discussed there. You do not need to search through a large number of notes related to other topics.

If anything especially interesting results from those discussions I will try to post a note about the information here.
