Maybe you felt some precursor movement to this quake:

2.4 2002/10/05 05:07:38 37.233N 121.648W 6.3 11 km ( 7 mi) N of Morgan Hill, CA

They might have been slow to post this one...explaining why you didn't see it.

Of course, it couldn't hurt to stay prepared.
