What is considered major? 5's world-wide?

Clue me in on some search parameters - I've got the solar stuff for 1996-2001 so I'll get numbers of flares (x,m,c) per day and plot them as 3 lines by date and then add the quakes as points on those dates?

Or???

I'll at least get the numbers of flares by day into a table so we can start there. (shouldn't be too difficult..)
