Hi EQF,

While I can applaud your efforts to promote an interest with those who are in positions of authority to give earthquake forecasting some attention, I believe it is much like bouncing a ball off of a wall. Nothing happens.

So this will not be taken in an unfavorable light by our scientists, we have to be aware of their positions in these matters. You are talking about people who have a valuable career and one who wishes to wage that career against a false alarm and thinks they might survive the fall out would either be rather brave or not minding unemployment. Its against the law for any American scientist who works for a federally funded organization to forecast or predict earthquakes. It says dismissal all over it.

Therefore, you've got to find people who are independent or in a foreign country which doesn't put them in jail. The territory therefore reduces one's chances.
