Another cryptic clue to the eq puzzle?

Well being as how it is Sunday, I thought I would toss out another tidbit of info. which may just be smoke from a distant fire (sorry to any CO/AZ readers on the choice of the metaphor).

Could any of the (ng snippet) discussion below have tie ins to the earthquake generating process(es)?

Does the earth have "hidden" resonances which can be excited by smaller forces leading to the triggering of quakes ?

Just food for thought (speaking of which, it's time for another pie).

As I understand it, he didn't actually create an earthquake, but the
resonance he induced in a building with his machine had similar
effects on the building as would a real earthquake. The novel feature
of his machine is that it automatically sought out the mechanical
resonant frequency(s) of the structure to which it was attached.

For many years it had been known that marching men could
create a resonance that destroyed a bridge over which they were
marching. But that was hit or miss because their march step wasn't
always at the natural resonant frequency of the bridge. Tesla's
machine would find that resonant frequency and then drive it.
What made it a marvel was that a tiny machine which could be
held in the hand could reliably excite a strong resonance in a
much bigger structure.

Tesla was fascinated by resonances of all sorts. His wireless power
scheme was predicated on resonating the entire Earth/Electrosphere
system. In that way, he hoped to get away from the inverse square
losses to which broadcast power systems are heir. (He claimed that
his system would be virtually lossless, but in reality it still suffered
1/R loss as does any other large sheet conductance.)

p.s. (Who would've ever have 'thunk' (or is that thinked?) that a bridge could collapse based on the beat frequency of soldiers marching across it?
Does the subsurface earth have such resonace structures & what excites them ? )
