Earth Dynamo Theory Conumdrum- "Faulty" ?

The earth dynamo theory supposes (as I currently understand it) that the earth's center core (made up of iron and nickel) and the liquid core, where convection currents are present, generate the earth's magnetic field.

The problem with this is that the magnetic pole and the axis of rotation (geographic) pole should line up (be at the exact same location). ==>This is not true. Also the magnetic pole wanders in location.

In addition there are 4 geographically stationary (lessor powered) dipoles located in the crust (in each hemisphere). This also presents a problem for the earth dynamo theory (i.e. read as "unexplained").

Another problem is the (slow?) decay and then reversal of the earth's magnetic field. How does that fit in with the dynamo theory?

There's something called the "curie point" where iron becomes liquid (and can no longer support a north and south pole as in its (solid state)composition). Thus the hot convection cell scheme to explain the generation of the field (since temperatures exceed the curie point which allows the high temperature liquid core explantion).

Anyway, supposedly no other explanation comes any closer than this explanation...and therefore it stands despite it's imperfections.

IMO, improvement in the explanation starts with understanding of what a magnetic field is....
