Hi Lowell,

Don and I were having a debate about whether you would say in your last post, that it was your last post. Don said you would say you were going and I said you wouldn't. Gosh darn it, he is always right!!!!

I have to disagree with you about the MTJ and here's why. Before the Nisqually subduction quake there were 4 >5.0 quakes off the northern tip of Vancouver Island. IE: something happened before in a known subduction zone. We have had a lot of precursory activity that surely must lead us to believe that something more significant is one the way.

Primary let's look at the increased seismic behavior of Ukiah in particular and then to Willits. The last tie comes from the quakes off shore from Coos Bay and Newport, OR. Now lets round this thought process out a bit. We are quite absent of moderate to large quakes in the Nor Cal region, so that strain obviously has been pushed north and that leads us to the MTJ.

When push comes to shove, its been pushed and now the shoving is occurring. But there's a wrench in the mechanics of this as well. The large quake which I would anticipate occurring in the region may not show up on the Mendocino Transform Fault, but in a list of other locales such as: Ukiah, Willits, Redding, Burney or even Lassen Volcano. The mirror quake locations.

Now one last bit which may or may not be related is that twice this week my cat Mr. Peaches killed two rats outside of the house. A small one and another about the size of a small kitten. He did this in the daytime, not the night-time. This is highly unusual for rats to be out in the daytime. It has rained so there is plenty of water around and we are not far from the nearest Taco Bell either. So what's this all about? Gosh I don't know. I did some research on rats today and they say rats that are pets eat in the daytime, while rats that are not are nocturnal. So is something about to happen and they are coming out, adverse to their normal behavior or is it for some other reason? Got me. But I'm telling you, I'm not leaving the window open for the cats to go in and out anymore. My poor daughter discovered the kitten like one dead on the carpet in the familyroom and had quite a fright. Talk about creepy.

I know each and every one of us will miss you greatly. Not just your reports mind you, but you the person. The wise one. The experienced poster. So now your next adventure in life is about to occur. Moving is an adventure regardless of what most people think about it. Primary people don't like to move because they don't like change. Yet change in itself is quite beneficial.

Yeah, it's hard work, but for me, I actually love to move. I do my best if I move at least every five years. By that time I've done all I can do in improvements and I run out of new ideas. Moving also means absorbing the nuances of the new place. Redecorating. Getting things into new slots to see how they fit. Its a challenge also to see if you are up to the task.

At least you are moving at the perfect time of the year. The winter is over, nature is sending out all of its springtime blossoms, new baby animals are in the fields and the weather for the next few months will be fantastic. You'll be in your new home in time to plant a garden if you like. Its a positive event.

May God bless you in your journey to your new home and may you be blessed with much happiness in this new place.

Petra
