Zima Chronocles - Final Installment

Zima has been missing all spring. I thought maybe the winter had gotten her.
But today as we were packing up, guess who should appear from the mountains -
Zima. After telling us how she had been, she went over to the car, put her paws
up on the front window and said "A Ride". She knows about 30 words of English
that I can understand (and probably lots I can't) and where and how to use them, but
I was a bit surprised after all these months that she would remember how to speak
them - after all who does she have to talk to in the mountains.
Anyway, the custom is if she asks for a ride, I open the car door, and she gets in,
sits in the front seat and waits for a ride. Well, today of course, we were busy, but
Zima did not follow the usual custom either. Instead of sitting down in the front
seat, she made her way to the back seat where she lay down and was not about
to be moved no matter how much coaxing. Finally I left and left the door open so she
could come out whenever she felt like it. She was very possessive the rest of the
day, never letting me out of her sight, and really getting underfoot - again very
strange behavior for her. She is usually very carefree and free in her movement.
I guess, Zima get her share of that sixth sense. Anyway, Zima will stay and romp
the mountains in search of that prize squirrel or mouse. I envy her.
