Re: Prediction registry needed |
Perl? Got an "A" in it last summer, and since I've previously volunteered for this, I guess I'd better put my money where my mouth is .... I've done some work on this already ... Let me post the work I've done so far this evening and then I'll be open to comments or suggestions. Basically, a prediction would include: 1. Predictor ID if they wish to remain unknown, or Predictor name if they wish to be known. Checks would be made for errors, such as postdictions. I don't know if comments would be allowed. The issue with that is that I'd have to monitor the comments being made to weed out trash/obscenities/etc if I did not require registration. If registration were required, it would make monitoring the site much easier as there would be some accountability, but people may not use it as much as they would have to register. Predictions would be available to the general public by: The ability to choose data formats would be offered, such as human readable or database friendly comma delimited type files. The ability to filter data by predictor, area, time, mag would be available. I would not perform/post ANY evaluations of predictions. It would simply be a public data repository, i.e. just the facts. Evaluation would be left to others as they see fit. The idea would be to make in completely automated. Thoughts anyone? Michael (what am I getting myself into ?)
