Pacific Northwest Earthquake Risks

Hi all. I thought that you might like to check out some of the information circulating through the Seattle area over the next couple of days. Thursday is the one year anniversary of the Nisqually quake and the newspapers and other media are using it as a good opportunity to discuss earthquake preparedness as well as what the known risks of this region are.

"The Pacific Northwest is a tectonic time bomb, a jammed-up river of rock that crumples like the hood of a car in a slow-motion collision until it just can't crumple anymore -- bouncing back with an earthquake of almost unimaginable destructive power and scope.

It happens every 500 years or so, scientists say, which helps make it hard to imagine."
