Re: Loss of Printed PDE (Preliminary Determination of Epicenters) |
Hi Lowell, This loss of information in the printed form is happening all over, due to the advent of computers. A lot of people think paper documentation is no longer useful. But I have to ask if by eliminating this data source, did it also eliminate a job or two? I read recently that the scolls found at Petra, Jordan were handed over to the people who are in charge of the Dead Sea Scrolls. This I found disturbing because the information on the Dead Sea Scrolls has not been released in its entirety and there are no plans to do so. I have a genuine concern for any data that is kept primarily on computers or computer back up systems. I was following a program for my checking account and alternating discs every month as was suggested. Then my computer crashed and when the new one was brought up it said it could not recognise the discs. But, I did print everything as I went along, so I just re-entered the information. Some material is just to important to lose. To me, if I want to keep something, it gets printed, even if I also store it on a disc. Petra
