OT-Strangely Wonderful Weather

Hi All,

Well, we San Francisco Bay Area residents got a real treat last night in the form of snowfall. We got about two inches of the white stuff here in Sonoma County. This is a truly rare event as it hasn't snowed at sea level here for over 20 years. At long last, not only did I have a fantastic view of the Rodgers Creek Fault covered with snow, but the entire neighborhood as well.I took a trip up to Santa Rosa today and everywhere I looked, every hillside was covered with the white stuff.

While those of you readers who live in places where it snows all of the time probably wouldn't make much of this, imagine children growing up who have never seen it snow. My daughter is one of them. I woke her up at 3:30 this morning and pulled her from her bed and told her to look because I didn't know if the weather might change overnight to rain and it would be gone by morning.

She got enthusiastic about it and at five this morning was out making her own snowballs and throwing them on the roof of the pool house. But my two cats didn't really care for the white cold and were only out on the fences for about five minutes and called it quits.

This afternoon it was hail and for tonight, well, just about anything goes according to the weatherman. I guess this is what makes California a wonderful place to live, the unexpected. If it isn't earthquakes or volcanos, its the weather.

Petra
