Hi Petra - As for the data - I personally look at it this way: If its stations NEI or GSR then its probably accurate - I also look for the A or M after the magnitude (telling whether its automatic computer or manual human reviewed)

Other data such as SED are quite often just inaccurate - take a look at todays - the 2 that SED are reporting for the South Pacific and North Pacific are most likely the Vanuatu Islands quake. (look at the times)

And Bob - Check out the World Quakes link at the top of the page.This listing is sometimes difficult for people to understand if they don't realize that the list is several stations reporting the same quake - I think now that USGS is back on-line that I'll switch it back to NEIC. I've been wanting to add a solar link too to watch those storms.
