Livermore, California Earthquake Forecast

Hi All. I see the quake (3.2Ml) I had forecasted for 12/09/2001 at 37.5N/121.6W may have came in a little early. This would be the Livermore, California forecast. The quake did occur at the base of the Mount Hamilton range on the Calaveras fault. It’s not to far from the 04/24/1984 6.2Ml (37.32N/121.70W) quake that rocked Morgan Hill. This quake occurred north of Morgan Hill, but it seems most of the energy was directed towards the south. The aftershocks from the quake also propagated towards the south almost to the location of the 5.9Ml of 08/06/1979 (37.10N/121.50W) quake.

There are those who may call this quake an aftershock of the 1984 quake, but looking at the catalog I would have to say that the quakes returned to the background level in 1995. Up until 1995 there was a 4.0+ quake about every two years. Since then there haven’t been any in the 4.0+ range.

If this indeed is the quake I forecasted then a person who sent me their ear tones just might have gotten this one correct. The person stated that they just had an ear tone and felt that it was coming from the south, but that they also felt that Mount Hamilton was to close. As no track record has been established for this person it remains to be seen, but I would have to say that if indeed this is the quake then the person is off to a flying start. We have a lot of work to do in that we have to establish a magnitude and distance from the ear tones the person has. The description the person gave me of the ear tone is not the same as Petra’s

In order for me the greatest amount of accuracy from a person’s ear tones I have to exclude the ear tones of all others and concentrate only on that person’s ear tones. Once a record has been made as to how a person has the ear tones then I can combine them with others for the purpose of location, magnitude and time. Take Care…Don in creepy town
