Well I don't know for sure, but the reason I think it isn't in the Loma Prieta aftershock zone is because of its proximity to Saratoga. If memory is correct I always thought the Loma Prieta rupture was a little south of today's 3.3. It seemed to me that had Loma Prieta ruptured all the way north to todays quake, damage in the Bay Area would have been significantly heavier.

So, it appears to me that this quake occured on a fresh virgin stretch of the San Andreas that hasn't seen much action other than maybe an occasional micro quake in the past century.

Good job on the forecast. I remember reading your post where you called for a 3 point something near Los Gatos within this time. I got chills when I saw the red square there and thought of what you wrote.
