I will agree that having all threads on one page in which you can easily scroll down through is convenient. It would be nice to keep that. BUT, once you start adding additional forum functionality, you start breaking this convenience. Who knows? I might find a way to do that. I've only just scratched the surface of this software.

And of course, the WWWBoard can be edited to produce any output desired. But I'd have to master PERL to do it. If I ran my own server hardware, I could write a new forum from the ground up in XBasic, which I know very well. Yes, XBasic is capable of doing cgi scripting. But since this website is hosted by a hosting company, I can't install the XB run time libraries onto their servers.

The myBB software has an administrative control panel where I can access literally EVERYTHING to do with how the forum works and is displayed. I have no need to edit files on my computer and upload via FTP. There are editors built in to the administrative functions which allow me to edit the files directly on the server.

Again, I agree with the simplicity argument. Much of my tinkering is with that in mind. For lack of a better phrase, I'm trying to "dumb down" the feature set of myBB so that the forum will be as simple as possible, while still keeping all the good things that we want that WWWBoard does not offer.
