hmmm.... maybe they're getting all the Chinese because to them $100k a year is a butt load of money, since the average income over there isn't 1/10th what it is here.

I'm not saying us Americans are being greedy. I'd love to make that kind of money.

But for me, I doubt I'd have much interest in working in the petroleum industry. I would do what I WANT to do, not because it pays well.

I'd rather do something else.

So maybe the reason they're not getting Americans is because they simply don't want to do that kind of work? Maybe they're more interested in other things? So instead, they have to 'import' workers.

I already highly suspect I'm a statistical outlier, perhaps by several standard deviations, but how much I get paid is not the most important thing I look for in a job. Yes, I expect to get paid fairly, but it's not the deciding factor.
