Quite a few strong EM Signals have been detected during the past two weeks after a lengthy period of relative inactivity.

This is an indicator to me that some powerful and likely significant earthquake activity is on the way.

There will likely be more than one significant earthquake. And unfortunately, my forecasting programs and data files have gotten months behind for a variety of reasons. So it will take me a while to get them updated. Roger appears to still be out of action. So I will have to adjust my Perl language programs so that they will reformat the USGS data to match his TrueBasic programs. He can correct things when he gets moving along again.

This would be an Earthquake Warning instead of an Earthquake Advisory if I presently had some probable location data to store on my forecast Web page.

My data indicate to me that EM Signal strength with these particular signals is linked with earthquake magnitude as would be expected. But it is perhaps even more strongly affected by the proximity of the fault zone to the surface. This is partly because the original energy associated with the signals is often connected with solar and geomagnetic storms. That energy then interacts with active fault zones at specific times and the final EM Signals are generated.

A considerable amount of time has been spent this year on other projects not related to earthquake forecasting. And as far as I can tell they have all been successful. One of them had a 100% success result just yesterday after quite a bit of effort and political arm twisting on my part.

Another involved efforts to get the Department of Energy moving forward. And we now have a new Energy Secretary, Dr. Ernie Moniz who has quite a bit of experience with being a “mover and shaker.” He also reportedly has a personal worth between $4 million and $20 million. And that should provide him with some insulation from all of the political flack that is constantly flying around in our nation’s capitol.
