The weather service's Medford, Oregon, office, reported Saturday that a glacier on Mt. Shasta broke, releasing a high volume of volcanic mud, rocks and water. The glacier-induced mudflow flooded Mud and Pilgrim creeks just north of Highway 89 where the water was dammed up Saturday night, the weather service said....

As some of you know, I live in Mt. Shasta. So far, no road closures...but makes us more aware (and nervous). Our little town of Weed (about 4 miles away) just had a horrible fire---burned over 100 homes. The drought has been particularly horrible here.
