There was a M8.3 quake in Chile yesterday that generated a significant tsunami. I am in Santa Barbara, and the arrival time here for the first wave is in about a half hour. There is an advisory: there are expected to be currents in the harbors etc, but not a big wave.

The news coverage of the quake and tsunami has been real spotty in the American press. What's your source?
I saw some pictures of ships on the roadway down there. I heard that there was a 16 foot wave. But, that was it. Some of these ships were pretty huge.
Looking for info . . . .

Thanks a bunch. I'll check those resources out.
Well, here in Southern California, we have activity to the south, to the north and to the east (Big Bear). I guess it's only a matter of time before we have something significant.
