Re: Earthquake forecasting question |
Hello EQ Forecasting, Well, I hate to tell you this, but there are sensitive monitors that record tilt and strain and they are a little more sophisticated than a pole stuck in the ground. There are some serious problems with the "pole monitoring device" in that moisture from rain or snow could easily move it and its not deep enough to show any results that could be reasonably reliable. The current instruments can measure one inch of movement within 14000 miles, so I don't think the pole is nearly this sensitive. Oh well, perhaps a good nights sleep and before you know it, maybe another good idea will surface. Good try.
