In a forecast made last week, Don had identified the region of Amboy
Washington as an area where he expected seismicity to increase between
the 8th and 13th of September.

During this period three volcanos in the region have shown
signs of activity - Mt. St. Helens where 7 microearthquakes have
occured, Mt. Adams where one event has been recorded and Mt. Hood
Oregon which recorded 4 events this afternoon including one of
Ml 2.1 and a second of Ml 2.4.
Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams fall within Don's 40 km zone, but
the events were too small to fit within his magnitude range. The
events at Mt. Hood are of the right magnitude, but about 60 km to
the SE and thus outside his distance range. Even so, these are the
first events of Ml>=2 near Mt. Hood since March 9 when a Ml 2.3
occurred and the largest since July 25, 2000 when a Ml 2.8 occurred.
This appears to be a re-activation of seismicity at this volcano,
so while the time window is not yet complete, Don has a grade B+
for this prediction at this time.
