Re: LA-What is next, a little concerned

When I went to check on the magnitude for the 4.2 yesterday, I saw a "possible scenario" on the USGS website for a 6.8 on the Newport-Inglewood Fault, which in fact, is the one that has had the folks at JPL/NASA/CALTECH at rather jumpy because it would effectively shut down LA, the Port of LA, LAX, and much of the Southwest. My very good sources there tell me that it is their worst nightmare and quite a possible one. To do that possible scenario on the N-I fault means that they are indeed worrying and these worries all come on the tail of new equipment installations yielding new data and huge amounts of tests having just been completed. Tonight's microquakes are beginning to pop much like precursors, but I am not predicting anything - just watching. B.
