Hi All, After total nothingness on the quake scene, looks like Coalinga's providing an attention getter with these quakes: 2.7 2001/09/02 09:28:42 36.208N 120.274W 8.3 11 km ( 7 mi) NE of Coalinga, CA 2.1 2001/09/02 08:48:33 36.210N 120.274W 7.8 11 km ( 7 mi) NE of Coalinga, CA 2.4 2001/09/02 07:22:19 36.211N 120.274W 8.1 11 km ( 7 mi) NE of Coalinga, CA 2.6 2001/09/02 07:19:39 36.217N 120.273W 6.5 12 km ( 7 mi) NE of Coalinga, CA 2.9 2001/09/02 07:18:08 36.220N 120.282W 8.1 11 km ( 7 mi) NE of Coalinga, CA 3.7 2001/09/02 07:11:11 36.215N 120.281W 9.4 11 km ( 7 mi) NE of Coalinga The curious thing about these quakes is that though some time has elapsed since the 3.7 none of the aftershocks are under a 2.0. In the sense of normal (if there is any such thing) by this time one would have expected them to be in the 1.8 range. So it will be interesting to see what happens. Which reminds me that we've determined from a reliable source the Parkfield Bridge is offset by one and half feet. So while Parkfield itself isn't getting much action, it seems the pressure point was N/E in Coalinga. I'm hoping for them this doesn't develop into anything larger. They had their big quake before and I'm sure they wouldn't care to have another one. Checking the instrument data for Parkfield it appears there was an acceleration in creep starting on 8/30 late in the day. Not sure if there is a connection between this and Coalinga, but its within the range of possibilities. Petra & Don
