They showed lots of people putting out more measuring equipment. I was thinking about the other people who mentioned that they saw lots of USGS cars up by Ridgecrest. Possibly they believe that the Barstow area to Ridgecrest and Coso Junction may be the best bet for the next large quake. They mentioned that there were two areas that they thought would receive more pressure from the 1992 Landers quake. One extended up through and past Barstow. The other branched off through the Hector Mine area and on toward the southern end of Death Valley. So actually they did know that area was stressed after the Landers quake. *Now* the Barstow area would be one area that is stressed and the other area would move on a bit to the northeast. Barstow would probably be the more important area because it would be more populated, but I would guess that the area south of Death Valley would be the bigger of the two if magnitude alone were the concern. This all comes from the pressure pushing up from the south in the Calexico to Salton Sea area. It kind of reassured me that my visualization of where pressure was increasing agreed with their studies. One other thought is that LUCIAN could be right at least about a large quake west of the Las Vegas area. This would be very close to the same area mentioned above. Steven T.
