Canie felt compelled to shut down EWPFyesterday due to an outbreak of harshness over Jake Coles' current situation, past behavior and whether or not he has any kind of a handle on predicting EQs. Jack, for those of you who don't know, sent a FAX to local TV stations predicting the Northridge 6.7 before the event. After the quake, Ch. 4 interviewed him, in his home at the time, and Jack explained that he listened for high frequency radio signals in predicting quakes. His room was filled with radio equipment. Now, I know this because I happened to catch the show. Much later, I assocated his and Jim Berkland's observation that quakes occurred in 1, 4, 9, 16 days after Jack got a signal, as square numbers, which I thought was rather strange. Since I then had no way of matching EQs to the pressure and spikes I had been getting, I decided to take TL's +6 quakes and see if they might match my signals by working back in time using the square numbers to subtrack days from the day of the quake. Much to my surprise, if I took into account plus or minus 4 days, all the +6s had a match. So, in March 1995, I decided to test this concept against all of my pressures and spikes. Since then all quakes (within my magniture range) have met this criteria.

In the meanwhile, Jack was arrested in San Jose, tried and convicted of molesting his, I believe,
step daughter and was sentenced to 174 years as I was given to understand. I was told by friends of his that he was going through a terrible devorce and the charges had come out in the midst of this. Implying, of course, that the wife was making them up. But I had then or now no way of knowing the truth in his case. He was convicted and sentenced. That much I know for sure.

I was able, sometime after his incarceration, to make contrack with him and we discussed the 1, 4, 9, 16 days observation only. I did not ask him about his situation. Nor did he bring it up.
Since then, he has sent EQ predictions, through the US mail-stamped by the prison alerting
everyone that the mail if from there, from time to time, and I have posted them to the board and
three other groups. He has been off in location, low on magnitude, but somewhere (within his
windows) a large enough EQ to generate world wide signals has occurred. He obviously has
friends helping him get these predictions out and they state: "All we want to do is save lives..."

Jesus died up there on that cross forgiving all sin and Jack has only to ask for that
forgiveness...if he hasn't already...and that matter is between him and God. In the meanwhile, he
serves his sentence and, perhaps, by continuing his EQ work, he is working on redemption. If
the charges are true, he is where he should be. If not, he isn't and should be granted a new trail
to prove his innocence. Whichever, it is a sad failing of something somewhere and our casting
of stones only adds to the saddness.
