SCECDC's seismocam has escalated to a pattern today that often precedes a 4.5 or greater quake in southern California. This can be described as a large waveform display that is 3 or more times the average maximum. There also appears a repetitive cycle of rhythm every 1.5 to 2 minutes. Formerly, a large increase on land (for instance at station PAS)indicated an on land quake. A large increase at an off shore station (SNCC) indicated an off shore quake. A regular maximum display of over 3000 at most times at PAS or over 9000 at SNCC in the window over extended periods of time (more than a few hours)is the key here. Even RPV is very high. I heard there are high wind warnings on the 5 freeway and highway 14, but don't think this is what is causing this. It is calm here in Tarzana anyway. The recent Oaxaca, MX and Hector Mine quakes were preceded by this, and it is at an even higher level now. The scary part is that all stations are very high. Possibly this may mean movement on multiple faults. I'll leave it at that. To view this for yourself go to this address: http://www.scecdc.scec.org/seismocam/realtime.cam/realtime.html Settings should be set at up and down and very sensitive. Steven T.
