The quakes that appear on the URL Mary gave you only show what quakes need to be reviewed - They are preliminary and once they are reviewed they either 'disappear' off the lists or are considered quakes.

Sometimes (as you probably know) there are events that appear that may be somehting else - like blasting in a gravel pit (Hemet is common for this) or just bad telemetry.
