Yes, I'd agree with the rifting.

My question about Wonder Valley, which the Amboy highway goes thru before it goes over the mountains and thru the salt mines into Amboy, is where we've got some property. My parents weren't there during this quake, but an elderly lady, about 74, was/is there house sitting while my parents are away. The property is about another 2 miles towards the Bullion Mts from Amboy highway.

BTW, since you've been taking geology classes, maybe you know what this is. After you dig down a few inches you run into some kind of crust that is really tuff. You have to use a pick axe to get thru it. Its a pretty widespread phenomenen out there which plays havock with trying to grow anything.
