Thanks Joan! Have you ever visited the area ?

I just visited it about year ago for the first time - rather interesting as there is what looks like tar or asphalt seeping above ground level in areas outside of the actual tar pit area. Like in a parking lot across the street... So I guess they do have a problem in the area - I never thought about it seeping into basement areas and apt parking lots and such...

I don't suppose they could pump it out - it might ruin the tar pits. Or maybe there isn't a large reservoir that they can drain..
