Maturity comes with deferred pleasure |
Dear Friends, Not exactly my strong suit, especially since Al Gore invented the internet. What TV was to the 50's through 80's, the internet is to me now. A huge, fun playground that I haven't been able to resist for almost a decade. I absolutely LOVE the internet, email, and the fact that I can have information at my fingertips 24 hours a day. I also like most of you, so this is a melancholy missive from an old friend. I must re-learn self-discipline or my agent will scuttle me, despite my having just been hired by (Ta Da!!!) "The NYT Book Review." As for Earthwaves, I'm staying, especially with people like Lowell now on board. Not to slight in any way the other regulars, including Don, Here's my friend Julie's and my plan. We get up in We spend a full day writing/working/reading/ just anything away from the internet. As a reward for having spent our time wisely, we may treat ourselves to the internet only after a full and satisfying day's work at what is on our respective plates. I know what's on mine, but Julie is So, you may see a post or two from me in the morning and then some catch-up late at night. If you see me in the middle of the day, scold me roundly and tell me to get back to work.
