ELF signals that do not continue during daylight hours are clearly ionospheric
in origin. This is a major problem with using ELF to detect upcoming earthquakes,
and one that has not been well addressed. The signals and frequencies are the
same as those produced by the ionosphere in response to geomagnetic storms
and interactions with the solar wind.
