Hi Lowell. Based on the past history of the area off of Fort Ross it doesn’t look there may be very much to be concerned about unless of course it’s in an area where there is an major earthquake about every 1000 or so years. The problem with the known history of quakes along the west coast is that it doesn’t go back much further then around 300 years if that much and some of that comes from Indian legends. Over the past some odd 40 years that that I have been studying earthquakes I have come to the conclusion that we know a lot about earthquakes, but I have to wonder, I really truly have to wonder just how much we understand what we know. Somehow I feel that it’s not very little, or at best not as much as we think we do. At least I know that’s the way it is in my case. A good example of knowing something and understanding it were the quakes around the Healdsburg/The Geysers area. The triggers were there. They triggered those quakes, but they didn’t cause the quakes. Stress caused the quakes. Were the quake as small as they were because there was very little stress, or is there a tremendous amount of stress there and the small quakes we saw were just a minor release bringing us much closer to a major quake? If so, will that quake be there or somewhere else, but close by? Now I have set the wheels in motion I think I will stay quiet. Take Care…Don in creepy town.
