Hi Lowell, It's difficult to tell you how much I in particular enjoy the factual data you bring to us here. It is so very easy to forget many of the earthquakes that have occurred in a region and in this case, not memorable to me that there have been such large quakes since the Good Friday 1964 quake. I'll rather paraphrase one of the survivor stories that I received from the 1964 quake. This woman at the time was around 8 and she said the two story wood frame home she was in with her rather large family began to shake considerably. Her parents ordered everyone out of the house and they were taken to a place between their home and the neighbors. She said her parents took her and shoved her down onto the wet snow and told her to cover her head as they were quite fearful she would be injured, thinking their house was going to collapse. She said she was worried about her neighbors as they had young children and in the intense shaking they had a hard time getting everyone outside. Like most of the other survivor stories I collected, this woman said she felt relieved to tell me the story and offered leads to other survivors, so they might share their experiences with me. I find it difficult to tell you in a strange way what being a therapist feels like, but it touches my heart and gives me pause to say thank you to the man upstairs for what lead me to that moment.
