I'm going to extrapolate from your explication and propose an idea. If a relationship between EMI and seismicity is found (and I agree with you about how potentially dangerous this could be), then EMIs could be used to trigger quakes in benign locations.

The idea: find some way to harvest the energy expelled during the EQ (probably with various sorts of generators) and solve the world's energy crisis.

Or is this just a pipe dream?
