Hi All. Did some checking for the last time there was this kind of activity in this area. What I found was that there were a number of years that had a number of swarms of this nature at which time most of them were never felt. At least I never felt them.

The thing that has me concerned is the rapid increase in creep in San Juan Bautista area. There was no increase in strain build up associated this swarm. However in the past I have made 7 correct forecasts using the Echo Valley data at San Juan Bautista, which is dilational strain. This site has been down for about 9 months now.

The largest swarm to occur in the past was in 1982 on 08 11 074643.20 36.64 -121.31 and was a 4.60 mb. This is based on an 8Km radius. The largest quake in the area was north of this latest series was in August of 1998 and was 5.4Ml. This quake was 3 miles SE of San Juan Bautista and about 8 miles SW of where I live. That one needless to say got my attention.

There have been other quake swarms, but not at this level.

The thing that is kind of interesting about this latest swarm is that it started about 9 hours after the 6.5 (depending upon which report you read) earthquake in the Mariana Islands. This swarm could have been triggered by waves generated by the quake, but really don't feel this is the case as I don't think the quake was large enough.
