Re: Demonstration Bulletin Board and Note To Skywise – December 21, 2012 |
My personal reasons for keeping Earthwaves around is that back around 1996 I went searching on the WWW looking for earthquake info - I had no geological education at the time - I came across some of the most ridiculous assertions - people's predictions - I had no idea if such things were possible or probable. Not being educated, I had no clue as to what I could or could not believe - Living in California and having recently gone thru the Northridge quake and it's aftershocks, one tends to get nervous about such things. I decided to go back to school and learn about earthquakes and geology. This website is dedicated to earthquake predictions - someday that will happen - but in the meantime i'm really happy for the Chris's, Rogers, Johns and Brians of the world - for the sake of all the other people out there who were like myself with no geological education and no way to know the difference between what is plausible and what is just plain nonsense. Yes, in the world of Science a hypothesis is made, data collected and presented and others try to shoot it down - that's the way things work - it's a good system - it works out the bugs - I'm hoping that Earthwaves will always be a place where these things get pointed out.
