Nice coincidence that Roger posted this about the same time my November 2012 GSA Today journal arrived (Geological Society of America).

A couple of quotes:

The article starts with a quote from Calileo Galilei:
"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason, and intellect has intended us to forego their use."

The start of the last paragraph goes:
"Geologist assess theories by how well they fit data, and creationists evaluate facts by how well they fit their theories."

While most of you know how this related to Earthwaves, there are some here who are oblivious IMHO, and are very analagous to the creationists in that quote.
