ocean acidification dissolving sea butterflies |
There is more to increasing atmospheric CO2 than warming and sea level rise. There is ocean acidification. I have not paid as much attention to this, but it is, like warming and sea level rise, simply scientific fact. I can discuss this with HW, who teaches "Global Oceans" If one were an expert and read the actual scientific paper (which I have not), one could check whether the particular problem was due to stronger upwelling rather than increasing acidity of the shallow waters. But CO2 is partly absorbed in the ocean and I'm pretty sure that makes them more acidic. Think fish-free lakes in the Adirondacks due to burning coal in midwest power plants (different process I think, not CO2).
