Re: Earthquakes In The Time Of Aristotle |
Hi Don and Lowell, By way of modern technology and stern educational facilities the ways of those in ancient times has been put into the closet and only those who are labeled as kooks or nuts bring them out and bring understanding to ancients cultures and traditions. For instance, Tarot cards for divination were developed in ancient Egypt. There are very fascinating when you come to understand the meanings, both in the physical dimension and higher self dimensions. I've read them for 20 years and in time have come to associate cards in a different light than the tradition ones because that's what works for me. In another vein I can crochet masterpieces in doilies and table clothes and those are considered a lot art. It may be in another 100 years, no one will be able to master this lost art,but will recreate them in machinery, beautiful and yet without a heart and soul that put the love woven into every stitch. But as to earthquake prediction to the old ones, there is some truth rather than fantasy in much of what they conveyed. I noticed in Aristoles time, weather was considered an important factor. So in some ways it is today as well and I think beyond coincidence. On the day of the Loma Prieta quake it was mildly hot, but quite humid and the sky had lots of thin whispy clouds. For most, this is considered earthquake weather and indeed an earthquake arrived in those conditions. But my favorite of harbingers to future events, earthquakes or storms or other events in life is to look at the ancient ones and how they interpreted dreams. It is said that dreams are the doorway to tomorrow and I believe this to be so. But again in our modern world with everyone on the go all of the time, most forget them upon waking unless they were extremely vivid or scary. In the ultimate solution to earthquake prediction there are many elements which will be needed to solve this puzzle. While pure applied science has to be primary, the observance of what nature is telling us will be of equal importance, thus the person or group who will attempt this feat and arise successful will have to build the bridge between science and nature and in that a new horizon will have developed.
