Thanks Brian, this is really good stuff. Way back, after Northridge, theer was debate about why quakes north of LA tended to be M6.7 or 6.6. One idea is that theer are cross faults that segment the thrusts. Seeing as Elsinore is strike-slip, not clear whether a cross fault without offset of the Elsinore surface trace would do much. But, there could be a tear in Elsinore at depth, with change in Elsinore dip. Seismicity in 3D or in cross section might show that. Can you do cross sections through seismicity? allow quakes within a few km each side?
